Are chiefs paving the way for a Salford 92?

THE article on Salford City (NLP, October 7) was useful and informative. It is good to see efforts being put in to energise local communities and the owners deserve credit for this.
However, my cynical head still sees elements of ego boosting in this. Here’s why...
One of the first actions was to change to team strip to red and white. Why? Why these particular colours? I recall when the new owner of Cardiff City did the same there was uproar. Were Salford fans consulted about the change away from Amber and white? The new colours make nonsense of the team’s nickname, the Ammies.
