STOURBRIDGE stay locked at the top with title rivals Kettering but made hard work of beating a Hitchin side who belied their lowly position.
Chances proved at a premium in the first half although Hitchin did have to thank goalkeeper Michael Johnson for keeping them on level terms by the interval.
Johnson pulled off two outstanding saves in quick succession during first half stoppage time, blocking out a shot from Robbie Thompson-Brown before turning a follow-up effort from Jordaan Brown over the crossbar.
