SAM Smart and Harry Pearse scored the goals as Basingstoke Town claimed a deserved win in the North Hampshire derby against Hartley Wintney.
It was the Row who had the first chance on two minutes when a Jack French corner on the right found the head of Mickel Platt, who headed narrowly wide. But on the stroke of halftime, Basingstoke almost snuck ahead when Smart found Zidan Akers – but his flick narrowly missed. The visitors started the better in the second period and Sam Argent found space but fired narrowly wide.
