MORPETH Town earned a crucial victory over thirdplaced Sheffield to strengthen their lead at the top of Evo- Stik East.
Coupled with Brighouse Town’s surprise defeat at Stocksbridge Park Steels, the Highwaymen, courtesy of a Liam Henderson goal and a David Carson free-kick, extended the gap to seven points.
In a game of few clear chances, Tom Potter’s low strike was deflected in by Henderson in the 23rd minute. That gave the hosts the lead and important momentum at Craik Park.
