COGGESHALL recovered from conceding a goal after 15 seconds to crush Canvey Island 3-1 and keep pace at the top of the Isthmian North table.
A defensive mistake from the kick-off saw Ugo Udoji slip and allow Tobi Joseph to capitalise, rounding Ashlee Jones and seeing the Gulls swoop to an unlikely early lead.
But the home side equalised before the break with a superb diving header from midfielder Connor Hubble and led midway through the second half as Ross Wall headed home Michael Gyasi’s cross.
