DARLINGTON booked a deserved place in the next round inspired by a superb display by Adam Campbell.
Trafford attempted to frustrate their illustrious opponents with a firm reliance on defence, but were undone in the 38th minute when Campbell crossed for Stephen Thompson to head home at the back post.
In the 65th minute the hosts equalised when substitute Darius Palma pounced on the loose ball to volley past Chris Elliott, but Trafford’s joy lasted just three minutes as Campbell thrust the ball home after Matty Cooper volleyed a Thompson free kick.
