HARTLEPOOL scraped into the first round – but not without a scare. National League North Brackley hit the woodwork and were denied on three occasions by home keeper Ben Killip.
The decisive goal came on 62 minutes, as Pools skipper Ryan Donaldson picked up possession 30 yards out, strode forward and cracked a low, bouncing shot past keeper Danny Lewis.
The Saints almost opened the scoring when Lee Ndlovu’s cross was pushed back into the area, two red shirts were played onside and in on goal.
