A SPENCER HARRIS penalty saw Matlock edge through to the next round of the FA Trophy, Ashton probably feeling they deserved at least a second bite of the cherry.
Harris scored on 33 minutes after Luke Hinsley was fouled and despite the visitors having the lion’s share of the play, it proved to be enough.
Matlock had skipper Adam Yates, Bailey Gooda and goalkeeper Jon Stewart to thank for progressing, all of them rising to the occasion to keep Ashton out.
