JAMIE Hicks scored twice as Stamford AFC closed the gap on league leaders Carlton Town with a routine victory 3-0 away at struggling Market Drayton Town.
Hicks struck in each half for the Daniels, who now move just two points behind Carlton and just one behind second-placed Cleethorpes, in an increasingly tight league.
The top six teams are separated by just three points and third-placed Stamford now face a mouth-watering trip to fellow promotion contenders Leek Town, who sit fourth, on Saturday.
