Greens go closer to safety

HENDON picked up three vital points as they saw off Merthyr Town.
The visitors came dressed full of Christmas cheer in their festive jumpers and they were soon jumping for joy when, in the fourth minute, Tom Smith fouled Gethyn Hill in the penalty area. Hill took the spotkick himself but a fine save from Rihards Matrevics kept the ball out.
Hendon came into the game and after a spell of pressure took a 34th-minute lead. A fine through ball released Shaun Lucien and he neatly dinked the ball past the onrushing Alexander Harris.
