WIDNES’ dismal home form continued as they were beaten 2-1 by Colne.
The Reds were gifted a 23rd-minute opener when Widnes keeper Richie Mottram made a mess of a clearance, allowing Lewis Bradley to chase the loose ball and slot into an empty net. Widnes responded shortly before the break.
James Steele quickly released James Murray in behind and he deftly lifted the ball over the on-rushing Hakan Burton and in, despite Marcus Poscha’s best efforts to clear off the line.
