LANCASTER’S promotion hopes suffered another blow as they lost their third game in a row.
Gainsborough started the better of the two and James Williamson tested Sam Ashton with a longrange shot that the keeper held after three minutes.
Gainsborough took the lead four minutes later when a free-kick was played into Lancaster’s area and Will Thornton rose to head the ball back to Nicky Walker, who found the space to strike an unstoppable shot past Ashton into the net.
