DORCHESTER got off to a flying start with a second minute opener after James Stokoe diverted a Neil Martin free-kick into his own net.
Bournemouth loanee Harvey-Joe Bertrand headed over and home stopper Shane Murphy saved at his near post to deny Stefan Penny as Wimborne hit back.
An end-to-end first half saw the lively Tom Blair fire over and Franklyn Clarke chest wide for the hosts before a low drive from Luke Burbidge was turned aside by Murphy.
