Leatherhead’s Joe Leslie hit a shot wide in the opening minute in a fast-paced start.
A shot by Leatherhead’s Danny Rowe on 20 minutes from 25 yards out was comfortably saved by goalkeeper Bailey Vose.
Margate got their first corner on 37 minutes but it was dealt with by the home side.
Leatherhead started the second half on the front foot forcing two early corners but not taking advantage.
