Mayo’s heroics are all in vain

JAMES MAYO produced a string of fine saves, but was unable to prevent ten-man Brockenhurst going down to lower division Wessex leaguers United Services Portsmouth.
Twice the Brockenhurst goalkeeper denied striker James Franklyn – once with an outstretched left leg and another from long range.
But the Services’ top scorer coolly beat him six minutes before half-time to notch his 14th goal of the season and give the hosts a narrow interval lead.
