SPENCER McCall, the former Hemel Hempstead Town player battling a rare form of cancer, is seeking to raise another £50,000 to help fund the final leg of his treatment plan.

McCall is currently in Tijuana, Mexico, where he has been receiving treatment to try and save his life.

The 26-year-old united the Non-League family last year with his fundraising efforts that now stand at more than £120,000.

Having fought off a rare bone cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma in his leg in 2019, he was given the all-clear.

However, in February 2020 he was given the devastating news that the cancer had spread to his lungs and there were multiple tumours in both.

With chemotherapy failing to stop the aggressive cancer and alternative treatments not available in the UK, McCall has been forced to look abroad.

Having initially travelled to Germany for a new innovative procedure, McCall was informed the disease was progressing too quickly and he needed to seek alternative options.

He received immune boosting CIK vaccines in Latvia before coming across a success story at the Immunity Therapy Centre in Mexico.

Since travelling there in October, he has received therapy six days a week with recent scans showing his tumours in his lungs had decreased. He has also undergone whole lung irradiation, to hopefully give that extra boost to kill or at least shrink the tumours he has in his lungs.

The next step will be to receive Cyberknife radiotherapy, but with his core costs are $6,000 per week he is appealing for help.

On his justgiving page, McCall said: “I can not express how thankful I am to everyone that has supported me in my journey to fight this disease.”
