Jake Gosling bagged a brace of first-half penalties for the hosts, but the Cambridgeshire outfit pegged them back each time to go into the break all square at 2-2.
Josh Moreman was one of Yaxley’s scorers on his debut.
Sporting regrouped at the interval and seized control of the game with further strikes from James McGrady and Mike Perks as they went 4-2 in front and looked to have put the game safe.
