HASTINGS and Herne Bay stood toe to toe in this opening game of the season, exchanged body blows and settled for a point.
These two teams are expected to challenge for automatic promotion. United were fast out of the blocks and early pressure saw them take the lead after four minutes through Dave Martin.
Bay responded with their own period of possession from which Aden Ramadan equalised from a free-kick after 19 minutes.
