TWO brilliant penalty saves by Bootle keeper Ryan Jones won the day for the visitors in an epic tie.
Bootle edged the first half with Henri Ogunby twice going close, while at the other end Connor Hughes and Matty Morgan both fired at Jones.
Trafford fell behind in the 63rd minute when they failed to clear a corner and Jack McGowan pounced.
The hosts introduced sub Matty Barlow in the 76th minute, and he made an immediate impact when he crashed the ball home from 15 yards.
