Ruff smooths the way for Urchins

HORNCHURCH ended a run of eight winless games in all competitions after Charlie Ruff’s strike earned victory over Merstham.
But they needed late heroics from keeper Joe Wright to seal victory.
The hosts dominated the early stages with Ruff and Liam Nash combining on numerous occasions.
And Nash came closest to scoring when his long range free-kick sailed just wide.
Then Ruff ran directly at the heart of the Moatsiders’ defence and his shot drew a good save from keeper Toby Bull.
