From a Clitheroe corner after two minutes, a series of half clearances saw the ball sit up invitingly for Priestley to nod home.
For the first 20 minutes, it was all Clitheroe, with Ross Dent, Ben McKenna and Terry Cummings going close.
In the 21st minute Selfton Gonzales beat two men but rolled the ball agonisingly along the line. However Trafford were very dangerous in the swirling wind and had a series of half-chances to end the first half.
