Hark, the herald angels sing, what will the Christmas period bring?

This week’s podcast is now available, and it’s an FA Trophy special, reviewing the 3rd round ties. There were some Christmas crackers, but who got the party hats out, and who was left with the terrible jokes?

They say ‘fools rush in where angels fear to  tread’, however Tonbridge Angels showed no such reservations and trod on the Trophy hopes of Torquay United. It was a case of ‘close, but no cigar’ for Dulwich Hamlet, as they were defeated on penalties by Plymouth Parkway, whilst Wealdstone went to market, Needham Market, and returned empty-handed. AFC Telford United were shattered by the Glassboys of Stourbridge in another shock, as National League sides aplenty fell at the latest hurdle.

There was an all-National League meeting at Edgeley Park, and our own Chris Pratt saw Stockport County leave the Mariners of Grimsby Town all at sea; Chris spoke afterwards with County manager Dave Challinor.

Whilst the Premier League shuddered to a halt, the weekend’s non-league fixtures were largely unaffected by the latest Covid-19 variant, Omicron; the team of Rob, Luke and Dickie discuss what implications the latest developments might mean for National League football, and issue a plea for an expert to step forward – are you listening, Professor Van-Tam?
