THIS New Year’s Day local derby had just about everything to get 2022 off to a great start, apart from the result for the hosts.
On not a cold afternoon for the 346 fans in attendance, both sides vied for control early on with a snap shot from Royston’s Tom Newman testing home keeper Josh Hill after only eight minutes but he held the ball firmly.
Hill was beaten soon afterwards when he pushed the ball up from a header by Brandon Adams and the prone keeper could only look on as Daniel Newton headed home on 11 minutes.
