Police are investigating a melee in Monday’s Southern Combination Division One clash between Dorking Wanderers Reserves and Epsom & Ewell which led to it being abandoned in the 69th minute after the referee was allegedly threatened by a visiting player-assistant manager.

POLICE are investigating a melee in Monday’s Southern Combination Division One clash between Dorking Wanderers Reserves and Epsom & Ewell which led to it being abandoned in the 69th minute after the referee was allegedly threatened by a visiting player-assistant manager.

Epsom immediately sacked Alex Penfold, who had come on as substitute 16 minutes earlier and was also accused of throwing punches at several opposing players, after earlier having been sinbinned.
Penfold was eventually restrained before the game was abandoned.
