■ A VIRTUOSO performance from Newcastle keeper Owen Mooney earned his side victory.
With both sides looking to get back to winning ways, it was Kidsgrove who started the brightest with Mooney twice clearing long throws before Lewis Jarman brought a fine save from Ryan Brown as Castle got a foothold.
Kidsgrove were awarded a penalty but Mooney dived to his left to make a fine save from John Johnston.
Will Lloyd fired wide for Castle before they took the lead after 42 minutes through Nathan Morley.
