■ A RECORD gate of 2,017 saw two sides at opposite ends of the table come close to producing a major upset.
Lancing matched their table-topping opponents every inch of the way with a display of real energy and commitment.
The sides were level at the half-time interval with neither side able to break down respective well-organised defences. A spell of pressure on the Lancing goal brought a save from Alieu Secka, but the ball rebounded from him with the ball loose in the box, before reaching Jack Dixon, who fired it home after 69 minutes.
