The Tulips had the better earlier exchanges with Ben Seymour-Shove going close.
Brandon Ganley saved from Jordan Macleod after 11 minutes, but Shepshed had their best chance a minute later Dempsey Arlott-John and Cain Noble both saved.
Spalding took the lead after 72 minutes, Ben Starkie’s ball across the box was met by Macleod. Two minutes later, United made it two after a foul by Ganley a penalty was given, with the keeper sent off, and Macleod converted the spot kick.
