THIS crucial fixture, involving the two bottom clubs was a tense affair decided by a single goal scored by the home side’s Stephen Cawley.
A bumper attendance of 796 befitting a local derby witnessed an urgent start with both teams coming close to scoring in the opening two minutes.
This was followed by a blocked shot for Hitchin’s Josh Coldicott-Stevens and home keeper Charlie Horlock held a blistering shot from the Waders’ George Devine, who screwed another wide shortly after.
