■ CANVEY Island went to the top of the table with victory against a hard-working Witham side that could not find the quality they needed to earn a point.
Bradley Sach put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute after a cross from the right.
Witham’s Jimmy’s Wallace forced Canvey keeper Bobby Mason into a save just before the break.
Witham’s best chance of the match came when Oshude was on a on-one-one with Mason but was foiled by the goalkeeper. After that they were unable to create clear chances.
