HORNCHURCH recovered from going a goal down inside the first minute to keep their play-off aspirations breathing.
Three goals saw off the challenge of an injury-depleted Merstham, who made the best possible start.
The Moatsiders took the lead after 35 seconds when a corner was cleared to Chase Jacquart, who whipped in a superb ball and Erald Desa’s deft header found the corner of the net.
Urchins striker Sam Higgins had a great chance to equalise on eight minutes but blazed over.
