HYDE United moved above visitors Gainsborough Trinity in the fight to avoid relegation with a deserved victory in the Tameside sunshine courtesy of a superb strike from midfielder Lewis Earl.
The first half had been an even contest with the two sides looking to catch the other out on the break, with neither keeper being tested as a result.
Hyde’s best efforts before the break came through Earl, who curled an effort onto the top of the net, and Sam Peplow, who shot straight at Matt Yates.
