CLEAR chances were at a premium, but FC United secured the win with second half goals from Josh Askew and Regan Linney.
Atherton Collieries have one of the best defensive records in the division, and it showed in the first half with both teams struggling to break one another down.
There were some opportunities, though, with both Linney and Charlie Ennis putting their chances for the home side narrowly over the bar in the opening stages.
