Liverpool beat Chelsea again on penalties in the Cup final. And Klopp repeated Ferguson’s achievement of collecting all the important trophies with one team

Liverpool and Chelsea met in the FA Cup final for the fourth time in the season – and all four times the rivals played a draw in regular (and even extra) time. In the league it was 1-1 at Anfield and 2-2 at Stamford Bridge.

The match was spectacular by all standards. No matter if you are a fan of soccer, hockey, basketball or even eSports at https://www.gg.bet/en/esports/. This game will be remembered for a long time to come.

In the League Cup final it was 0-0 in both regulation and extra time, 11-10 in favor of Liverpool on penalties. Same in the FA Cup final – zeros in regulation and extra time, 6-5 on penalties in favor of Liverpool on penalties.

Liverpool has had a penalty shootout four times against Chelsea – in the 2006/07 Champions League, in the 2019/20 European Super Cup and in two cup finals this season. And won all four.

The heroes were Alisson and Kostas Tsimikas, although Edouard Mendy tried hard (guessed the direction of most of the shots and saved the fifth penalty from Mane). Alisson repelled the shots from Aspilicueta and Mount, and the Greek defender, who replaced Andy Robertson in overtime, did not flinch in the crucial moment. An important skill for a goalkeeper that affects the outcome of every match, which is something that is important for betting enthusiasts. If you are one of them, we recommend you to bet here.

Liverpool won the first FA Cup since 2006 (by the way, West Ham were also beaten on penalties). During this period there was one final in 2012, which they lost to Chelsea.

It is the eighth FA Cup for the Merseysiders – only Manchester United (12) and Arsenal (14) have more.

Liverpool became the first club to win the cup double twice – winning the League Cup and the FA Cup in the same season. The first time the Reds managed it in 2001. Also such doubles were done by Arsenal in 1993, Chelsea in 2007, Manchester City in 2019 (but City had a triple as well – a victory in the PL).

And in the 2000/01 season Liverpool took the European trophy along with a double, but it was the UEFA Cup, where they outplayed Alaves (5-4) in an outstanding game.

Under Klopp, Liverpool’s collection of trophies has expanded: winning the Champions League, the PL, the League Cup, the FA Cup and the European Super Cup. The only thing missing is the Community Shield – they lost it twice. But next season there will be a third attempt to win it.

But even without the Community Shield, Klopp repeated the achievement of Sir Alex Ferguson – and became only the second coach to collect these trophies with one English club. Only in Ferguson’s case it was Manchester United, of course.

However, the victory over Chelsea was slightly overshadowed by Salah’s injury – two weeks before the Champions League final, the Egyptian was injured (presumably in his groin) and was replaced in the first half. Whether Salah can recover for the Champions League final can be found on gg.bet.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have lost three consecutive FA Cup finals – to Arsenal, Leicester and now Liverpool. Also not a unique achievement (Newcastle did the same thing), but the Londoners have reached the final three years in a row and lost it three times. Newcastle, on the other hand, has a much longer year-by-year breakdown: 1974, 1998 and 1999.

A special antihero is Mason Mount. The midfielder has been very unlucky at Wembley, losing all six of his final games here. And today he also failed to score the deciding penalty. The final of the championship playoffs in 2019, three FA Cup finals (2020-2022), the Euro-2020 final, the League Cup-2022.
