■ GOALS from Ben Whiteman, Ben Woodburn and Mikey O’Neill gave Preston North End a solid victory over Bamber Bridge in their opening pre-season friendly.
Chances were few and far between in the first half. Noah Mawene came closest for the visitors on 30 minutes when his off-balance shot struck the crossbar.
PNE captain Daniel Johnson, meanwhile, saw his curling effort go narrowly wide of the post shortly before half-time.
All three of North End’s goals came in the latter 45 minutes, with second half captain Whiteman open...
