FC HALIFAX Town were defeated in the first Shay outing of the season – but the majority of the 1,774 crowd will wonder how after a one-sided game in blistering hot weather.
Despite finding themselves on the back foot for much of the game, Gary Johnson’s Torquay returned to the south-west with all three points thanks to Brett McGavin’s goal late in the first half.
And, unsurprisingly, the Gulls had goalkeeper Mark Halstead to thank for a striong of fine saves to keep out Chris Millington’s men.
