Why Erling Haaland is primed to become a Premier League pillar

In just a short time, Erling Haaland has emerged as one of the most impressive players in the Premier League’s recent history. In his first six Prem games for Manchester City, Haaland tallied 10 goals that involved two games where he had hat-tricks.

Before he arrived at Man City, Haaland was already a bright prospect for Borussia Dortmund, RB Salzburg, and the Norwegian national team. No matter what kind of fan you are, it will be hard to not be impressed at what Haaland does on the pitch.

You might just be interested in the West Ham United outrights but you have to take into account how Man City will play with Haaland in the squad. Let’s take a look at the biggest reasons why this Norwegian titan is primed to become a Man City and Premier League legend.

Haaland is still a young star

At 22 years of age and 6’4, Haaland has an imposing frame that you would expect from a centre-back or a goalkeeper. That is not the case for him because he plays the striker role and he is extremely skilled at such a young age. He is impressive on the physical side of the sport because he knows how to mix that size with an intense pace.

He is blessed with strong physical attributes but Haaland is also an extremely smart player. The Norwegian knows where to position himself and how to outsmart his opponents with smart turns and speed control.

Haaland’s age is what makes him such an anomaly because it’s surprising to see such a talented and intimidating player in his early 20s.

Man City is committed to building around Haaland

Over the past decade, City has always relied on some of their focal point players. Sergio Agüero was arguably their biggest piece but the likes of Vincent Kompany and David Silva were equally important. City already has a strong squad but they also want to secure their future and starting with Haaland and Phil Foden, the club has a bright future.

Apart from Haaland and Foden, manager Pep Guardiola also has Julián Álvarez in the lineup. He and Haaland have become one of the most formidable striker duos in the 2022/23 Premier League season and they are primed to do so for years to come as they are both 22 years of age.

With Haaland under contract for the long haul, Man City’s plans will have him as the focal point. He is a special talent that can be compared to the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Haaland can overpower any defender

Haaland also possesses solid power throughout his body which is why he’s such a strong striker and he can compete with any defender. He matches up well against most defenders in the league because his physical attributes are similar to the likes of Virgil van Dijk or Harry Maguire.

Strikers are usually around the 5’8-6’0 range. Haaland is an anomaly that is pretty challenging to stop. He has combined the skills and pace of the smaller striker and paired it with the imposing frame that defenders and goalkeepers possess. That is an insane mix of attributes which is why he was such a highly-coveted player when he was with Dortmund.

Haaland will continue to dominate the Premier League

With only a few Prem games under his belt, most Man City fans have become hyperbolic about Haaland. However, it is challenging not to talk about his potential because he has been superb in just a few games. Haaland has deserved the praise that he has received and he will continue to shine with Man City.

Even if you’re just a fan interested in making West Ham United outrights, you can’t deny that Haaland has captured most Premier League fans’ attention because he is a mercurial talent that has earned his place at the top.
