■ PRESCOT Cables were dumped out at the Joseph Russell Stadium as a goal in each half from the visitors put paid to Cables’ gallant Cup run.
Cables had a number of absentees, particularly in midfield, and it appeared to cost them dear as Bamber Bridge took the lead after 25 minutes through Nathan Pond. The former Fleetwood ace, who played over 450 games for the Cod Army drove in from close range.
Cables equalised on the stroke of half-time, though, through Alex Gofton’s welldirected header.
