Bracknell Town chief: We couldn’t hold Seb back!

BRACKNELL TOWN say they could no longer stand in the way of star man Seb Bowerman making the step up to join Dorking Wanderers.

The 27-year-old winger was named the Step 3-4 Player of the Year at the National Game Awards last season after his 29 goals helped the Robins clinch promotion from Isthmian South Central.

Now, after a failed attempt to lure the frontman two years ago, Wanderers boss Marc White has finally got his man with the carrot of National League football proving too good to refuse.

“When Dorking came in for Seb two years ago, I asked Seb to remain and help get us up,” said Bracknell chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse in a statement.

“He agreed, however, as I have said before, Covid slowed our progression. During Seb’s time with us, he has helped us grow from staring Step 6 in the face to a club now operating at Step 3.

“When they came knocking for a second time ten days ago, I sat down with Seb. I could not stand in his way. At 27, he is in his prime and I could see in his face the opportunity to test himself at Step 1 was too big a draw.”

Dorking’s move came in the week where Binfield co-bosses Jamie McClurg and Carl Withers returned to the club as joint managers, replacing Bobby Wilkinson, who has joined Weymouth.
