■NEW boss Ian Clark was introduced before kick- off, but that was the end of the good news for Shildon as they suffered an eighth defeat in nine league games. Clark, newly arrived from Marske, saw his side shredded on the counter-attack by a ruthless Carlton side and save for a couple of second half penalty shouts the hosts were well beaten.
Kyle Tomlin emerged as chief destroyer firing the visitors into a 24th minute lead and completing a double with his second in the last minute.
