FC United of Manchester stay on top as Lancaster City hold on

DESPITE seeing captain Niall Cowperthwaite sent off on 65 minutes, ten-man Lancaster City held on and secured a good point at leaders FC United.
The Dolly Blues started well. A Sam Bailey header at the back post found Dale Whitham, who forced Dan Lavercombe into a brilliant save.
A minute later, and the visitors had another opportunity, this time from the penalty spot. But Lavercombe denied Nico Evangelinos.
FC United took the lead on 14 minutes. Regan Linney seized upon a long ball and slotted home his 12th league goal of the season.
