DAN CREANEY made it 19 goals for the season as he bagged a brace to guide table-topping Tamworth to a relatively comfortable win.
The Lambs controlled proceedings from the first whistle with Hitchin threatening little until a late strike by sub Jack Snelus gave them hope.
Tamworth set the tone for the afternoon by taking the lead in the first minute as a cross from Kyle Finn reached the unmarked Creaney, who headed past Charles Horlock.
The quickfire goal gave Tamworth impetus and AJ George tested Horlock while Finn curled just over.
