DAV Symington grabbed two identical goals to earn Workington three valuable points at Hanley.
The Reds sharpshooter cracked in two low shots from 25 yards to help the visitors into the lead after an early setback.
Hanley had gone in front after 11 minutes when a cross from their liveliest player, Reece Jones, flew off defender Dan Wordsworth a nd past stranded goal-keeper Jim Atkinson into the net.
