Curtis Woodhouse lands Marske United manager’s job

Curtis Woodhouse

By Sam Rhodes

Curtis Woodhouse knows he can do all the talking in the world about how he wants to get Marske United back on track – the former Gainsborough Trinity boss says it’s time to get to work.

Woodhouse has taken over at the NPL Premier outfit following the shock departure of Carl Jarrett, who left the club on October 19.

Jarrett spent eight years at the Seasiders, leading them to promotion to Step 3 but the team are on a four game winless run since his departure.

And Woodhouse is determined to get them moving up the table again.

“I’m thrilled to be announced as the new Marske United manager, a fantastic football club with lots of potential,” Woodhouse said in a club statement.

“After sitting down with Mark and the board I was left excited about the journey ahead of us.

“It’s not going to be easy or instant but together we can get back on track and get moving forward again.

“I like my teams to play fast and furious, be on the front foot forcing the pace, anything less than everything isn’t enough. Talk is very cheap, let’s get to work.”

The 42-year-old was British light-welterweight boxing champion as well as having a successful professional football career at the likes of Sheffield United, Birmingham City and Peterborough.

As a professional boxer he only lost seven out of 29 fights and won 13 by knockout.

Since moving into management he’s had roles at Sheffield FC, Goole, Hull United, Bridlington, Town, Tadcaster Albion and Trinity, who he left by mutual consent last year.

A Marske statement said: “Curtis brings a plethora of management experience to the club, most notably during his time at Gainsborough Trinity, where he surpassed expectations in the NPL.”
