CHIEF ‘GUTTED’ BY SMITH EXIT

HERNE BAY chairman Stuart Fitchie says he’s “gutted” by manager Ben Smith’s decision to stand down.
Smith guided Bay to promottion to the Isthmian Premier from Step 4 last season but they have struggled to get going this term with their last win coming on October 11 in a 4-1 success over Lewes.
“It is with real sadness that following a conversation after the game today, I have to inform you that Ben has decided to step down from his role as first team manager with immediate effect,” Fitchie said.
