LANCASTER continued to move up the NPL Premier Division with a fourth successive league win after a controversial late goal.
The decisive goal came with three minutes of normal time remaining. A long throw into the penalty area by Sam Bailey was flicked on by Dom Lawson.
Brad Carroll had the space to get a shot on target and in the ensuing goal line scramble, the referee’s assistant signalled that the ball had crossed the line and despite vehement Ashton protests the goal was given.
