FOLLOWING two defeats Sporting were back at the VG to play Bedford. With the hosts’ Tommy Taylor injured, Ollie Taylor took the captain’s armband and Dom Perkins replaced him.
As early as the second minute Smalley’s free kick was well-placed for player-manager Michael McGrath to tap home the opener for the Rouslers.
A big chance followed for the hosts in the 15th minute for Dan Sweeney, but visiting goalkeeper Eve dealt with it well.
