■ MALDON & Tiptree edged past East Thurrock United in the Isthmian League North Division to push further away from the dropzone.
Despite the end result, Joe Turpin’s own goal in the tenth minute saw the hosts get off to the worst possible start.
In a back and forth first-half, Terrel Egbi’s equaliser in the 29th-minute handed Maldon a short reprieve, but Brian Moses saw East Thurrock take the lead again just three minutes later.
Harry Phillips was then the man to step up, with his equaliser coming after 34 minutes.
