MATLOCK manager Martin Caruthers pulled off a masterstroke to secure a Matlock victory in an open affair at Causeway Lane.
Both sides lost key players during the week. Defender Ryan Qualter left Matlock for Scarborough Athletic, while United’s top scorer Regan Linney moved to Altrincham.
The sides traded firsthalf chances. Dontal Gabbidon struck wide for FC United in the 11th minute, and United goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe made a superb save to claw away an Alex Byrne strike six minutes later. Town’s Jerome Slew failed to conve...
