SPALDING picked up three vital points as they chased down the league leaders. The first half was a tightly fought affair, with few goal-scoring chances, although the visiting keeper James Goff had to claw away a Nathan Stainfield header.
The only goal came after 54 minutes when former St Neots player Lewis Hilliard crossed for Nat Ansu, who headed home.
St Neots responded well, sending on all three substitutes, but the home defence held firm. Kyle Barker should have increased the lead, but he blazed over the bar.
