Boldon CA were awarded promotion during Covid. When the 2020/21 Wearside League season was cut short by the pandemic, Boldon were 15 points ahead of the rest. An appeal to the FA sensibly saw the club making their debut in the Northern League Division Two in the 2021/22 season.
